Introduction:
D Creations is a well-known film production company based in Karnataka that specializes in producing movies that address social issues. A Kannada movie produced by the company is directed by an award-winning director of Kannada, Mansore named 19/20/21 that highlights some of the social issues prevalent in the state.
Objective:
The objective of the movie is to create awareness about the constitutional rights of citizens of India. The film is intended to be a thought-provoking and impactful piece that encourages people to take action and bring about change.
Methodology:
The first step in writing dialogues for the movie was to identify the constitutional aspects and the emotional bent of the characters and stitch them both for an intended impact. Once we had identified these issues, we began the process of writing the dialogues. We started with a rough outline of the movie’s story, which helped us understand the characters’ motivations and the movie’s overall tone. We also collaborated with Mr. Veerendra Mallanna, who is also an associate director of the film for a better understanding of the director’s and the crew’s intent.
We then wrote dialogues for each character based on their personality, background, and role in the story. We also paid attention to the language and dialects used by people in different parts of Karnataka, particularly Tulu which is spoken by many of the characters of the film. Our idea was dialogues to be authentic and relatable to the audience.
One of the most important aspects of writing dialogues for a movie like this is to ensure that they convey the message clearly without being preachy or didactic. We wanted the dialogues to feel organic and natural, as if they were part of a real conversation.
Results:
The final dialogues for the movie were powerful, emotive, and impactful and were appreciated by the cross-section of the viewers. They effectively conveyed the social issues at hand and made the audience feel invested in the characters and their struggles. The dialogues also effectively captured the nuances of different dialects and languages spoken in Karnataka, making them authentic and relatable.
Conclusion:
Writing dialogues for a Kannada movie based on social issues for D Creations was an exciting and rewarding experience. It required a deep understanding of the characters, their motivations, and the social issues at hand. The final dialogues effectively conveyed the message without being preachy or didactic, making them impactful and memorable for the audience. The movie will be hitting the screens on 3rd of March 2023.
